After Jaya Bachchan Speaks In Support Of Bollywood, MHA Tells Parliament ‘NCB Didn’t Get Any Inputs On Bollywood-Drugs Nexus’
Samajwadi Party leader and veteran actor Jaya Bachchan took a strong stand during the Monsoon Session in Parliament, speaking in support of the Bollywood industry. She stated that the image of the entertainment industry is being tarnished and also hinted at Ravi Kishan’s allegation that drug addiction exists in the film industry too. Kangana Ranaut has also earlier made some sensational claims about the Bollywood- drug nexus. However, now, MHA tells Parliament that NCB didn’t get any inputs to show links between Bollywood and drug traffickers.

According to CNN News18, Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy has told the Parliament that no inputs were received by the NCB to show links between Bollywood and drug traffickers. The question asked was whether the government has conducted a detailed inquiry in the nexus between people in the film industry and those involved in the drug trade during the lockdown. In the reply, MHA said NCB carries out regular searches and investigation, and during the period of COVID-19 lockdown, no such input was received by the NCB revealing any nexus between the film industry and drug traffickers.

However, according to CNN News18, he did add that a case in this regard was registered by the NCB on 28 August 2020. This is in reference to the Rhea Chakraborty case, in which 10 alleged peddlers were arrested. While he mentioned this, it was made very clear that no actionable input was received by the NCB to suggest Bollywood-drugs nexus.
